Chelsea star set for Madrid return as Jose eyes £120m replacements

Updated: November 15, 2015

Chelsea could be set to launch a stunning £120m overhaul to their struggling squad, according to the Daily Star.

The Premier League champions have endured a torrid campaign so far, losing seven of their opening twelve games in defence of their title.

The Blues were also knocked out of the Capital One cup, amid murmurs of dressing revolt against controversial manager Jose Mourinho.

Under fire striker Diego Costa could set be for a return to Spain after his indifferent form this year, as the 26-year old has only netted three times this term.

After 21 goals in his debut season, it is an extremely poor return and his fiery antics have led to speculation over a return to Atletico Madrid, who he left in 2014 to move to West London.

Mourinho is said to be eyeing Antoine Griezmann and Gonzalo Higuain in a whopping £120m double deal to revitalise their frontline.

Higuain, now with Napoli, worked with the ‘Special One’ at Real Madrid and reportedly has a £67m buyout clause inserted into his deal with the Serie A giants.

French international Griezmann is plying his trade with Atletico in the Spanish capital, and a £40m deal has been mooted after his stellar form this year.

It is understood that Costa is closer than ever to the exit door at Stamford Bridge, and could be shipped out as early as January.
