Antonio Conte has seen his early plans as Chelsea manager rocked with star striker Diego Costa demanding a move away from West London, according to Spanish outlet AS.

The controversial Spaniard, signed almost two years ago exactly from Atletico Madrid, has been strongly linked with a return to Los Rojiblancos over the past few months.

Despite a stunning start to life in England, helping the Blues to a first Premier League title in half a decade, his second campaign on these shores proved more frustrating.

Though his form picked up under Guus Hiddink, a year marred by a lack of form and disciplinary problems has seen his future cast into doubt.

As a result, he is said to have to return to the Spanish capital, though top brass at Stamford Bridge are understood to have rejected his pleas.

Conte has already moved for Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi, though has often favoured a 3-5-2 formation with both Italy and Juventus.
